History & Legacy | इतिहास र पृष्ठभूमि

For generations, the people of Nepal have maintained a deep spiritual connection with their ancestors through Shradha and Pitri Puja.

Historically, major rituals like the Sohra Shradha (the dark fortnight of Ashvin) or annual Pitri Tarpans required families to host elaborate feasts and distribute grain to priests and locals. This was seen as a way to earn spiritual blessings (Punya) and ensure the soul’s smooth passage.

The Modern Challenge

As families transitioned into urban centers and the global diaspora, performing traditional physical charity became challenging. Young Nepalis abroad wanted to honor their late parents and grandparents but struggled to find reliable, transparent channels to execute social work (like distributing meals or funding student education) in their memory.

Founding of Kulpitri

To address this gap, Kulpitri was founded in Kathmandu. By utilizing digital payment methods (such as eSewa and Khalti QR scans) and automatic SMS alerts, we created a seamless bridge. Now, within minutes, a devotee can upload their forefather’s photograph, select a charity project, make a donation, and receive verified proof of the service done in their name.

Milestones

  • 2026: Platform launch in Gaushala, Kathmandu.
  • Over 1,200 families successfully served across Nepal and the diaspora.
  • Partnered with 3 major cow shelters and 5 rural schools to direct donations.
